Patti Smith at Beach Goth 2016 (more by Andy Sawyer)

Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez’s Democracy Now! news program turns 20 this year, and there will be a 20th anniversary celebration happening on December 5 at Riverside Church (490 RIverside Drive in NYC). Amy and Juan will be joined by Harry Belafonte, Noam Chomsky, Danny Devito and Danny Glover, and the musical guest will be none other than NYC punk legend Patti Smith.

Tickets are $30, and there’s also a $250 premier ticket option that includes a pre-event reception with cocktails & hors d’oeuvres from 5:30-7 pm, general admission with preferred seating at the main event, and a signed copy of Amy Goodman’s new book, Democracy Now!: Twenty Years Covering the Movements Changing America.

If you can’t make it but still want to donate to Democracy Now!, you can do that too.

Patti Smith and Her Band are also presenting Lenny Kaye’s 70th Birthday Bash at Bowery Ballroom around the holidays, with special guests. That’s now sold out.
