Patton Oswalt has a pretty flipping full agenda right now. He has a new book called Silver Screen Fiend: Learning About Life From an Addiction to Film coming out Tuesday (1/6):

So this new one – Silver Screen Fiend – is looser but better structured. It’s about a very specific period of my life. May 20th, 1995 to May 20th, 1999. Those four years when I’d just moved to Los Angeles. Alternative comedy rooms like The Un-Cabaret, The Largo, and dozens of other gone-forever spaces where I could go onstage, sometimes two or three times a night, and develop as a comedian at nitro speed.

And helping – and often hindering – my development was The New Beverly Cinema (and a lot of other gone-forever rep theaters like Tales Cafe and The Four Star) where I became addicted to cinema. And not in a refined way. Not as a connoisseur. I had a meth addict’s appetite. Four, five movies a day. In theaters.

On release day (1/6) at Barnes and Noble Union Square, Patton will read from the new book and talk about it too with John Hodgman. That is free and happens at 7 PM. That’s part of a a lengthy book tour that also includes a stop in Jersey City at Word Bookstore on Thursday (1/8) where he’ll be in conversation with Patrick Wilson.

Also this week, Patton will also be appearing at The Kevin Corrigan Show which happens Thursday (1/8) at 9:30 PM at Brit Pack (153 Lafayette Street, Manhattan) where the other guests will be Tom Scharpling and Kathleen Hanna. With free admission, an unbelievable line-up, and no advance ticketing, I have a feeling getting into this intimate thing is gonna be a bit of a nightmare, so maybe line-up early.

Patton also has a pretty full stand-up tour booked that will find him at Carnegie Hall on Friday (1/9). A handful of tickets are available right now, so don’t snooze and, thus, looze.
