Patton Oswalt is the one of the cast members in NBC’s new Thursday night comedy, A.P. Bio, which was created by former Saturday Night Live writer and occasional performer Mike O’Brien and stars Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia)

When disgraced Harvard philosophy scholar Jack Griffin (Glenn Howerton) loses out on his dream job, he is forced to return to Toledo, Ohio, and work as a high school Advanced Placement Biology teacher. As he comes crashing into Whitlock High School, Jack makes it absolutely clear he will not be teaching any biology. Realizing he has a room full of honor roll students at his disposal, Jack decides instead to use the kids for his own benefit. Eager to prove that he is still king of the castle, Principal Durbin (Patton Oswalt) struggles to control the force of nature that is Jack Griffin.

You can watch the first episode of A.P. Bio — its producers include Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers — below and watch two more over at NBC.

Meanwhile, Patton will be appearing at the 42nd & 5th branch of the New York Public Library on February 27 as part of the “Live from NYPL” talks series. He’ll be talking about I’ll Be Gone in the Dark, the final book from his late wife (and true crime writer) Michelle McNamara:

The comedian and actor Patton Oswalt shares the posthumous true-crime masterpiece written by his wife Michelle McNamara, who died suddenly at the age of 46 in 2016. McNamara, creator of, spent years tracking a California serial killer she dubbed the Golden State Killer, who between 1976 and 1986 committed 50 sexual assaults and 10 murders up and down California. Oswalt wrote, “I can’t help feeling that somewhere, in her final pages, she left enough clues for someone to finish the job she couldn’t—to put California’s worst serial killer behind bars.

Tickets for that event are on sale, and you can also stream it live on 2/27 at 7 PM EST.

Patton’s only other upcoming events are “Patton Oswalt and Friends” shows on March 11 and April 22 at Largo in Los Angeles (tickets). Flyer for the 3/11 show is below.

You’ll also be able to catch Patton on the new season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 which will be on Netflix sometime later this year.
