PAWS touring with The Cribs, releasing new single (listen)

PAWS
Sarah Hess

Scottish band PAWS have been tapped to open on The Cribs‘ upcoming North American tour which makes for a pretty great pairing. The NYC stop happens on September 21 at Music Hall of Williamsburg and tickets are on sale. On nights off from the tour they’ve lined up a few other shows, including ones with Beach Slang and Together PANGEA. All dates are listed below.

To coincide with the tour, PAWS are releasing a new 7″ with two new songs and one of those — the anthemic, hooky “Omaha” — premieres in this post. Singer Phillip Taylor told us a little about it:

The majority of the lyrics for “Omaha” were written down on my phone’s notes app whilst doing laundry backstage (in the Nebraskan city of the same name) on our Spring U.S tour with Dude York. It’s a song about the reflections/second guessing of one’s actions, the stability of new friendships and relationships with family members. We finished the song early after returning from the tour and quickly made plans to record it as a double-A-side single along side another track. We bolted up in a small studio in Glasgow’s west end with producer/engineer Stephen Watkins and nailed it all down in 12 hours. Within a week it was mastered and sent out for pressing at the record plant.

You can listen to “Omaha” below, and you can preorder it (only 500 copies pressed) now.

This is the first new music from PAWS since last year’s Mark Hoppus-produced album No Grace. The Cribs, meanwhile, just released 24-7 Rock Star Shit which was recorded by Steve Albini.
