Pentagram is here (win tickets)

Pentagram at Webster Hall (by Keith Marlowe)
Pentagram is back in action and will play Europa in NYC tonight (1/6). It’s one of a pair of dates scheduled for the legendary doom band who also play Club Hell in Providence, RI on 1/7. Hull, Judas Priestess, and Bezoar are also on the NYC bill, and Pentagram (Bobby Liebling, Victor Griffin, Greg Turley, and Tim Tomaselli) will play both their classic material, as well as new stuff from their forthcoming LP due via Metal Blade this year. Tickets are still available, and I have FOUR pairs available for giveaway! Details are at the bottom of this post.
In other news, Hull is playing the Europa show, but are otherwise taking some time off from shows to concentrate on new material. They report that “their sophomore full-length will be co-produced by Brett Romnes (who played drums on the band’s Viking Funeral EP, initially self-released in 2007) and mixed by Bill Anderson (Sleep, High On Fire, Neurosis, EHG, Melvins et al). A July 2011 street date is expected. The band plans to start tracking as soon as they return from a two week stint to SXSW with Batillus from March 11th – 27th.” Expect some new songs tonight, much like the band played at Public Assembly when they supported Kylesa.
