There aren’t a whole lot of places in Williamsburg that were open in 1999 that are still open today, but Pete’s Candy Store is one of them. The bar, with its tiny and very cute performance room, has over the years been host to great, free live music seven days a week. Sunday, December 1 is Pete’s Candy Store’s actual 20th birthday and that kicks off a week-long anniversary celebration that includes some of their favorite performers, some of their favorite quiz nights, and even a resurrection of their original menu.

Sunday night’s kickoff has the 1999 lineup of Reverend Vince Anderson & The Love Choir, gothy country band O’Death and Bruce Martin. On Monday, December 2 it’s anti-folk great Jeffrey Lewis, long-running indie rock singer/songwriter Jason Anderson, and Jocelyn Mackenzie of the now-defunct alt-pop group Pearl and the Beard. And on Tuesday, December 3 it’s Joan as Police Woman, Lake Street Dive’s Bridget Kearney, Aoife O’Donovan (I’m With Her, Crooked Still).

The rest of the week includes Pete’s regulars the Howard Fishman Quartet, plus Vic Thrill, The Chapin Sisters, Lizzie & The Makers, Margot MacDonald, Benjamin Cartell, and more. The shows are free, with a $5 suggested donation for the performers, but show up early if you wanna get a seat. The full lineup of the Pete’s Turns 20 festival is below.

Happy 20th, Pete’s Candy Store!
