Phil Lesh doing Halloween run at the Cap; Bob Weir giving guitar lessons over Skype
Last in the NYC-area for three shows earlier this month, the Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh will return for a three-night Halloween run at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester. It begins on Halloween night and continues November 1 and 2. The Halloween night show will have sets from Phiddle (aka Phil Lesh and Twiddle), Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band, and GEM (Terrapin Family Band’s Graham Lesh, Midnight North’s Elliott Peck, and Twiddle’s Mihali Savoulidis). The 11/1 and 11/2 shows are Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band featuring Jimmy Herring of Widespread Panic. Tickets for all three go on sale Friday (9/28) at noon.
Phil’s former bandmate Bob Weir also has dates coming up with his trio Bob Weir & Wolf Bros (ft. Jay Lane and Don Was), who will be playing Grateful Dead songs and more. That includes the Capitol Theatre on November 9 & 10 (night one on sale, night two sold out) and Beacon Theatre on November 18 & 19 (night one sold out, night two on sale). Bobby is also giving one-hour guitar lessons over Skype or FaceTime, and you can enter an auction for a chance to get one. The current bid is at $2,600 and the auction ends at 11 PM Eastern tonight. Bobby’s Dead & Company (with Grateful Dead drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann) are doing their Playing in the Sand concert vacation again in January.
Watch Phil Lesh play “Shakedown Street” and Talib Kweli’s “Get By” with Talib himself (which Talib dedicated to Mac Miller) at their recent Apollo show:
