In the wake of Lifetime’s new Surviving R. Kelly series, which documents over two decades of horrifying abuse allegations against the disgraced R&B singer, some of his collaborators are apologizing for associating with him in the past. Chance the Rapper did, Lady Gaga did, and now so have Phoenix, who released a remix of “Trying to Be Cool” with R. Kelly in 2013 and brought him on stage at Coachella that same year.

Phoenix wrote in a Tweet:

We are deeply horrified by the stories of abuse surrounding R. Kelly.

We regret that we were not both more informed and more discerning when we worked with him previously. We fully support all victims of sexual abuse, and it’s our hope that there will be a path to justice.

R. Kelly is also reportedly under criminal investigation “as a direct result” of what Surviving R. Kelly depicted. Kelly continues to deny all allegations.
