Phoenix are back, probably playing a NYC festival this summer
Phoenix have been quiet for a while, but yesterday they updated their social media pages, which popular artists tend to do when a big announcement is on the way. Now they’ve announced their first show in three years: Spain’s Bilbao BBK Festival in 2017 (the same festival that booked Fleet Foxes for their first announced show in five years).
Surely this means more dates (and maybe a new album?) are on the way. Their last NYC show was part of Governors Ball in 2014 (four years after they headlined Madison Square Garden). The Strokes also played Gov Ball in 2014 and then again in 2016. Kanye played Gov Ball in 2013 and was booked to play again in 2016 (it was rained out). Could Phoenix be the third big Gov Ball headliner to be on the lineup twice in three years? Stay tuned.
