Pixies lose another bassist

Indie legends the Pixies continued on this year after the departure of original bassist Kim Deal with Kim Shattuck of The Muffs in her place, but now the news comes that the band have lost yet another bassist. Shattuck wrote on Facebook:

Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.

On the bright side, a new Muffs album would be their first since 2004.

Pixies, without Kim Shattuck, will go on to tour in 2014. As discussed, that tour hits the NYC-area on 1/19 at Capitol Theatre and 1/21 at NJPAC. with Fidlar. Tickets for the Cap and NJPAC shows are still available.

Meanwhile, Kim Deal is also still touring with The Breeders and will bring that tour to NYC on December 19 and 20 at Webster Hall with Speedy Ortiz, where they’ll perform their first two albums, Pod, and Last Splash, in full. Tickets for both nights are still available, and we’re also giving away a pair to each night.
