Pixies played 3 NYC-area shows with Sunflower Bean (Capitol Theatre pics)

The Pixies have been touring all year in support of last year’s Head Carrier, their first full-length album with Kim Deal’s replacement Paz Lenchantin as a full-time member. They played three sold-out NYC shows with Cymbals Eat Guitars in May, and they just returned to the area for some shows with Sunflower Bean: Long Island’s Westbury Theatre on Friday (9/22), Asbury Park’s Stone Pony Summer Stage on Saturday (9/23), and Port Chester’s Capitol Theatre on Sunday (9/24). We caught the Cap show, where they played a whopping 35-song set that included most of Doolittle, half of Surfer Rosa, a good amount of new songs, their cover of Neil Young’s “Winterlong,” and other classics like “Caribou,” “Rock Music,” “Subbacultcha,” and more. Pictures are in the gallery above. Setlist and a video below.
