Pixies played Webster Hall with Kristin Hersh (pics, setlists)

Pixies spent the weekend in NYC, playing Live From Here with Chris Thile at Town Hall on Saturday (listen to an archive here), and then headlining Webster Hall on Monday. At Webster Hall, they played without a setlist but had no trouble coming up with nearly 40 songs to play, opening the night with “Cactus” from Surfer Rosa and closing with “Planet of Sound” from Trompe Le Monde. There were plenty of classics in between, including “Break My Body,” “Here Comes Your Man,” Where is My Mind?,” “Monkey Gone to Heaven,” “Velouria,” “Wave of Mutilation” (the slowed-down UK Surf version), and “Debaser,” as well as newer material including songs from this year’s Beneath the Eyrie. Check out the setlist and a few videoes below.

This December tour has been a bit of a reunion night, as opening is their old friend and onetime 4AD labelmate Kristin Hersh. (Pixies opened for her band Throwing Muses on their 1988 House Tornado UK tour.) Her Webster Hall set included a couple Throwing Muses songs and solo material too. Her setlist is below and pictures from the whole night are in the gallery above.
