‘Please Kill Me’ 20th anniversary edition & tour announced; ‘Punk’ talk happening at Queens Museum
Last month, Punk Magazine‘s Legs McNeil and his Please Kill Me co-writer Gillian McCain did a reading/signing for their 1996 book at a Punk Island benefit in NYC. Now they’re set to give the book a 20th anniversary re-release via Grove Press with new photos, chapters and an afterword by the authors.
They’ll celebrate the new release with events at six different Ace Hotels worldwide, “which will combine readings by the authors along with DJ parties and festivities to mark the occasion.” It happens in NYC on July 14. All events are free and all ages. All dates are listed below.
In related news, there will be two talks this Sunday (6/19) at the Queens Museum, in conjunction with the ongoing Ramones exhibit at the museum. The first is from 1-2:30 PM with Punk Magazine co-founder and cartoonist John Holmstrom, photographer Roberta Bayley, and contributing editor Chris Stein (of Blondie).
The other is from 3-4:30 PM and it’s on Ramones art director Arturo Vega (who passed away in 2013). That one has artist Ted Riederer, arts writer Sandra Schulman, and once again, Chris Stein. More info here.
