Protomartyr share "My Children" from new LP, playing Saint Vitus before Basilica fest
Protomartyr‘s new album, Relatives in Descent, is the band’s darkest album yet: a bleak look at the world circa now, with the band creating stark music to match Joe Casey’s bilious lyrics. (It’s all rather cathartic, really, though, especially if your humor runs pitch-black.) They’ve just released a second track from the album, “My Children,” which takes a different view of the future than Whitney Houston. “Good luck with the mess I left, you innovators” Casey spews. You can stream that track, below.
Protomartyr will be on tour starting in September, including dates with Melkbelly and John Maus. They play NJ’s WFMU Monty Hall on September 15 with Gotobeds (tickets) and are also part of this year’s Basilica Soundscape in Hudson, NY. They’ve just added an NYC show while they’re here, playing Saint Vitus on September 13 with Pill and Bodega. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, August 18 at 10 AM.
You can catch them in NYC proper as part of their tour with Flasher (Taylor from Priests’ other band), including a stop at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 28 (tickets).
