Public Practice is members of Wall & Beverly, playing shows with Flasher & Bodega (listen)

Public Practice is the new band formed by Samantha York and Vince McClelland of Wall that also includes Beverly members Drew Citron and Scott Rosenthal. Like Wall, Public Practice draw influence from post-punk but here there’s more of a synthy, more overtly danceable aspect to their sound. I caught their first-ever show back in March where they opened for Pill at Baby’s All Right, and they seemed fully-formed then, playing a full set of originals plus a cover of Yellow Magic Orchestra member Yukihiro Takahashi’s “Extra-Ordinary.” The only music they’ve released so far is a demo of the Talking Heads-y “Foundation” which appeared on a Wharf Cat Record Store Day compilation and you can stream that, and watch a little video of their “Extra-Ordinary” cover, below.

Since, Public Practice have opened for Goat Girl and Tough Age, and have shows coming up: Bodega’s record release show at Sunnyvale on June 1 with a Pill/Eaters collaborative set (tickets); and a Northside showcase at Elsewhere Zone One with Flasher and Dehd (tickets).
