Punk Rock Bowling NJ night shows: Sick Of It All, Conflict, Dwarves, & more
The Asbury Park Punk Rock Bowling returns to the Stone Pony Summer Stage on June 10 and 11 with The Specials, Dillinger Four, NOFX, Buzzcocks, Lifetime, Leftover Crack, and tons of other great bands. PRB also includes night shows on the Stone Pony’s inside stage and at nearby venue House of Independents. The lineups for those have now been announced.
Friday night has UK anarcho-punk vets Conflict, garage punk staples the Dwarves, Agnostic Front guitarist Vinnie Stigma’s project Stigma, and Wyldlife at the Pony; plus Hot Water Music’s Chuck Ragan, Dead Milkmen’s JJ Talcum, and The Scandals’ Jared Hart at House of Independents.
Saturday has NYHC legends Sick Of It All, Boston’s Street Dogs, and glammy Italian punks Giuda at the Pony.
A few artists playing this year’s PRB also weighed in on their love of the fest. Blag Dahlia of the Dwarves said:
Punk Rock Bowling is the union of high-brow and low, a place where punk icons mingle with the salt of the earth. You’ll see fetish models, skater dudes, goth babes, emo kids, gamblers, pick pockets and pinheads united in their love of bad music and recreational sports for the out of shape. You’ll see drunks and skinheads and English people and folks with an unfortunate fashion sense (the last two tend to be the same thing.) You’ll see professionals and rank amateurs, cutie pies and double baggers, the naked and the dead and the dermatologically challenged. You’ll see everyone except Bruce Springsteen, and really, isn’t that alone worth the price of admission?
And this year, you’ll see something really special. My band the Dwarves, rock legends, in our first Asbury Park PRB appearance. See what Vegas PRB fans have known for generations, that the Dwarves are the Inventors of Rock & Roll music and the very best looking band in show business!
Stza of Leftover Crack added:
We’re all excited about both PRB’s. It feels like we’ve won a prize when we are asked to play. There’s no other festival that compares in making me feel like: “I’m never growing up, I’m gonna be a punk!” was, in fact, the correct answer to “What do you want to be when you grow up?”. Getting to play both festivals with our different bands is just overkill!
Last but certainly not least, punk legend Keith Morris (Black Flag, Circle Jerks, etc), whose band OFF! is playing the Vegas edition, said:
My past experiences at PRB have included witnessing the Exploited, Devo, UK Subhumans, Leftover Crack, Youth Brigade, Turbonegro, Anti Nowhere League and a dozen other loud and sometimes abrasive musical organizations. This year I’m totally psyched to be making a bunch of noise with my friends in OFF! And excited to see not only the greatness of Iggy Pop but The Spits, the “D Beat” Discharge, Plague Vendor, Tacoma Washington’s The Sonics, Salton Sea Sean and his Throw Rag, the angular and twisting guitar mania of Television, the Denney Brothers “Made In Hollywood” Weirdos, the reunion of Minneapolis’ The Soviettes, Mean Jeans and DC’s Scream. Yeah the 2017 version of PRB is going to be as juicy and tasty as the tacos being served near the lobby of the Golden Nugget. RAAAAAAWWWWWWKKKKK!!!!!! Keith
