Pure Bathing Culture announce new LP, touring with American Football

Pure Bathing Culture are following 2015’s Pray For Rain with a new Tucker Martine-produced album, Night Pass, on April 26 via Infinite Companion. The first single is “Devotion” which combines Big ’80s Pop with twangy guitar leads and kinda sounds like it could’ve fit on Fleetwood Mac’s Tango in the Night. The chorus also kind of sounds like Rubert Holmes’ “Escape (The Piña Colada Song).” You can hear it below. Here’s what the band told Stereogum about the song:

There are a number of songs on this album that involve one lover telling another that whatever it is they are up against, they can make it through it together, that they will support them in the process, that they want to inspire them through it. The verses of “Devotion” in particular deal with someone who repeatedly feels unconfident or like they are left behind, but are inevitably saved by love. Devotion is the act of supporting each other and not giving up; it’s what makes things magic. When we come together and make something, when we put the stars in the jewels, when we repeat this over and over again, it’s all we can do. It’s the ritual that perpetuates love.

PBC are hitting the road first opening for Lucius and then opening for American Football. The run with American Football hits Brooklyn’s Warsaw on May 24 (tickets). All dates are listed below.
