PWR BTTM share "Answer My Text," made a playlist of LP2 influences

PWR BTTM will release their first album for Polyvinyl, Pageant on May 12. They already dropped the first single “Big Beautiful Day,” and now they’re back with another track, “Answer My Text,” which features Petal‘s Kiley Lotz. With a light, mid-tempo verse and a roaring crunchy chorus, this one should take you right back to ’90s rock radio (there’s a little Green Day in that pre-chorus melody, and a blink-182-meets-Thin-Lizzy guitar solo). And with the repeating hook of “Answer my text, you dick!” PWR BTTM are as funny and relatable as ever. Not to mention this zinger: “Maybe your heart’s on silent mode tonight.” Watch the lyric video (by Mary Shyne) below.

PWR BTTM have also shared a playlist of songs that inspired the new album. It’s pretty awesome, with tracks like Wheatus’ “Teenage Dirtbag” (which you can also hear hints of on “Answer My Text”), plus songs by Pinegrove, Pansy Division, Lana Del Rey, Ani Difranco, Sports, Radiator Hospital, Amanda Palmer, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, The Breeders, and more. Check it out below.

As mentioned, the band have several tour dates, including SXSW and a big NYC show on June 21 at Webster Hall. Since we last spoke, it was revealed that PWR BTTM’s Polyvinyl labelmates Tancred, and Fits, will open that show. Tickets for that show are still available.

PWR BTTM also play Michigan’s Bled Fest with La Dispute (playing Wildlife in full), Bear vs Shark, Into It. Over It., Cayetana, and many more. Updated dates are listed below.
