Queens of the Stone Age began their tour at the Cap (pics, videos, setlist)

Queens of the Stone Age are fresh off releasing their new album Villains, which adds a funky touch (perhaps thanks to producer Mark Ronson) but has their classic sound intact too. They played their first US show since its release at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre last night (9/6). The show kicked off the same way the new album does, with “Feet Don’t Fail Me.” After that, QOTSA continued on with a set heavy on the new album and its predecessor …Like Clockwork, but also breaking out classics like “A Song for the Dead,” “First It Giveth,” “No One Knows,” and Rated R“s “Leg of Lamb,” which they hadn’t played live in six years.

Pictures of the show (including a few of opener Royal Blood) are in the gallery above. Check out the full setlist and some well-shot videos (by Mike Taffet) below.

QOTSA will headline Chicago’s Riot Fest next weekend, and their tour comes back to the NYC area for a Madison Square Garden show on October 24 (tickets).
