Ramona releasing a new LP, touring with Teenage Bottlerocket (watch a video)

Ramona formed in Seattle, kicked some ass out there, then moved to Philadelphia because—if you wanna know the truth—you can buy two drinks for $4 at most any bar. FOUR BUCKS. So then they get asked to play shows with bands like The Lawrence Arms, The Menzingers, etc. and people are really responding to their songs and their fun shows. Next we shipped ’em up to Boston to record with Jay Maas (State Champs, Seaway, Title Fight) and they crank out the coolest record of 2019: “Deals, Deals, Deals!”. See, it even sounds like a fun time. The band has a tour lined up with Teenage Bottlerocket and who knows what’s next… probably something with Chainsmokers, those guys are equally hot right now.

The above tongue-in-cheek yet also helpfully informational description of Ramona comes from their latest bio, and it should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from this band if you’re not familiar. Their melodic punk is cut from a similar cloth as tourmates like The Menzingers, The Lawrence Arms, and Teenage Bottlerocket, and they definitely don’t take themselves too seriously. Their upcoming album Deals, Deals, Deals! includes song titles like “Mambo 69,” “Panama by Van Halen,” “Is This Emo?” and “Shit We Broke Up,” and the new video for new single “Are We Having Fun Yet?” is called the “Official Party-Time Tour Vid” which is about as apt a description as you can get. “Are We Having Fun Yet?” is also a fun, catchy punk song, and you can check it out and watch the video below. “This song is about a lot of specific things, but more than anything it’s about the angst in everyday mediocrity. It’s fitting that this is a tour video because nothing gets me thinking about that more than the ol’ post-tour blues,” guitarist/vocalist Diego Medrano tells us.

The new album drops this Friday (6/7) via Red Scare Industries (pre-order LP, CD, or digital).

Ramona are playing cool punk festivals like The Fest and Riot Fest this year, and their tour with Teenage Bottlerocket starts this month.

TBR and Ramona will hit Brooklyn’s Sunnyvale on June 22, and The Young Rochelles are on that show too (tickets). All dates are listed below.
