Exciting rap shows happen in and around NYC all the time, but we don’t get a chance to dedicate posts to all of them. In an effort to remedy that, here’s a roundup of some recently-announced shows in the area.

Local staple Roc Marciano returned this year with his great Rosebudd’s Revenge (stream it below), and he’ll play a hometown ‘Hood for the Holidays’ show the day after Christmas, December 26 at Highline Ballrom. It’s with two local production legends, Large Professor and Statik Selektah, as well as DJ Rok One (tickets).

Rick Ross comes to the NYC-area that same holiday week for a show at Montclair, NJ’s Wellmont Theatre on 12/29 (tickets).

Ja Rule is playing shows this year and next year with his old hitmaking partner Ashanti, including one at Newark’s NJPAC on March 2, also with Lloyd and Lil’ Mo on the bill. Before that, Ja Rule plays his own show at NYC’s BB King’s on January 4. Tickets to both are available.

Ja Rule and Ashanti’s Reading, PA show is with Jadakiss and DMX, and DMX also has a NYC show on January 25 at BB King’s (tickets). Earlier this year, DMX made something of a comeback thanks in part to the Ruff Ryders reunion shows.

Redman, who played BB King’s with Method Man (pics) last week, plays his own show on December 9 at Highline Ballroom (tickets).

Another ‘Art of Rap’ show has been announced for this area: February 23 at NJPAC in Newark with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, EPMD, N.O.R.E., Big Daddy Kane, Onyx, Mr. Cheeks, Brand Nubian and Roxanne Shant’e (tickets).

Meanwhile, catch N.O.R.E. TONIGHT (11/28) at BB King’s as one half of C-N-N. They’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of their classic debut The War Report (tickets).

Also tonight: Raekwon at Good Room with IDK and Quiana Parks (RSVP).

Jay-Z and Vic Mensa just wrapped up a two-night stand at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center (read our review of night one), and they’ll hit Nassau Coliseum this Saturday (12/2) (tickets).

Other previously announced rap shows in the NYC-area include Tyler the Creator / Vince Staples, Brockhampton, Fetty Wap, Cam’ron, Rapsody, Wiki, The Roots, Young M.A, Slick Rick, Action Bronson / Meyhem Lauren, and Lil Uzi Vert

A bunch of hip hop was nominated for the Grammys today, including Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Rapsody, Migos, Cardi B, Tyler the Creator, Run the Jewels, and more.
