Ray Davies releasing new LP with The Jayhawks as backing band (listen to "Poetry")

Onetime Kinks frontman, the newly knighted Ray Davies will release new album Americana. It’s his first album in 10 years and follows his 2013 memoir of the same name. Like the book, the record focuses on the’ relationship America has played in Davies’ life, and enlisted actual Americana band The Jayhawks to back him on the LP. (The Jayhawks’ Karen Grotberg duets with him on “Message From The Road.”) You can check out the first single, “Poetry,” via NPR, below.

Americana will be out April 21 via Legacy Recordings and a second Americana volume will be out later in 2017. Tracklist and artwork are below.

No tour dates have been announced yet, but Ray’s brother Dave will be in the U.S. this spring.
