Richard Swift, RIP

Singer/songwriter and producer Richard Swift has sadly passed away this morning, after recently being hospitalized due to a “serious medical condition.” He was 41.

A representative for Swift confirmed the news to Pitchfork, and Swift collaborator Dan Auerbach posted: “Today the world lost one of the most talented musicians I know. He’s now with his Mom and Sister. I will miss you my friend.”

In addition to a long-running solo career, Richard Swift played in The Shins, The Black Keys, Dan Auerbach’s band The Arcs, and Starflyer 59. He has produced several acts, including Damien Jurado, Foxygen, Sharon Van Etten, David Bazan, and more.

Recently, a GoFundMe was launched to help cover Swift’s medical bills.

Rest in peace, Richard Swift. You’ll be missed.
