Ringo Starr played a rooftop in NYC (pics, videos, setlist)

“No one will understand the emotion of us landing in America,” Starr told the Daily News. “But it was New York, and all of the music we loved came from there. It was just far out.

“Because we landed there, everyone in New York thinks we belong to them,” he said with a laugh. “They do, and you feel that. They think, ‘Oh, he’s back home.’” [NY Daily News]

NYC was treated to a Beatle on a rooftop when Ringo Starr stopped by on Sunday night (8/18) for a show at the Rooftop at Pier 17 with His All Starr Band. (This was not his first rooftop.) The show got off to a late start due to rain, but then Ringo and the band — which currently includes Steve Lukather of Toto, Gregg Rolie of Santana, Colin Hay of Men at Work, Gregg Bissonette, Hamish Stuart and Warren Ham — powered through a set that included Ringo’s classic “It Don’t Come Easy,” a handful of Beatles songs (“Don’t Pass Me By,” “Yellow Submarine,” “Act Naturally,” “With A Little Help From My Friends,” and more), songs by the other band members’ bands, and other covers. At 79 years young, Ringo’s voice hasn’t aged one bit. Pictures of the show are in the gallery above. Setlist and some videos below.

Ringo has more upcoming US shows this summer too. The tour hits Champaign, IL tonight (8/20) and wraps up in LA on 9/1. All dates and tickets here.
