Roadburn announce John Baizley-curated 2017 lineup (Coven and Warning return ++ Baroness, Pillorian, more)

Roadburn 2017

Netherlands-set heavy festival Roadburn have announced their initial lineup for 2017. Curated by Baroness’s John Baizley, the fest has a couple big surprises. One is a reunion from late-’60s occult-rock greats Coven. Another is that Patrick Walker (who focuses on 40 Watt Sun these days) will be reuniting Warning to play their classic 2006 album Watching from a Distance in full for the first time ever. Aside from that though, there is plenty of excellent stuff to be had here. Baroness, Oranssi Pazuzu, Pillorian (the new project of former Agalloch frontman John Haughm), GNOD, Schammasch, Perturbator and more.

Tickets for the fest go on pre-sale on October 20 at 3 PM EST; pre-sale info will be available soon at Roadburn’s website.

Check out the full lineup, and listen to Coven’s classic Witchcraft Destroys Minds and Reaps Souls (which, for what it’s worth, has a song called “Black Sabbath” and a bassist named Oz Osbornez) and that Warning album, below.
