Robyn kept Barclays Center dancing on a steamy Friday night (pics, video, setlist)
Robyn returned to NYC on a steamy Friday night (7/19) for an arena-slaying, career-spanning set at Barclays Center. On a brief US tour in continued support of last year’s excellent Honey, Robyn is stopping in just a few cities on this trip, and she continues to prove her star power by filling arenas with cheering, dancing fans. Friday night’s show was just about as sublime as when we caught her earlier this year at Madison Square Garden, even if the rising temperatures put the slightest damper on the energy. Check out pictures from Robyn’s set in the gallery above, and some fan-taken video clips, and the setlist, below.
Hometown post-punk/hip hop icons ESG opened Friday night’s show, and while we unfortunately missed their set, Robyn didn’t; she shared a bunch of cute video clips to her Instagram story as she watched and sang along.
Next up for Robyn is a headlining set on Sunday at Pitchfork Festival, and after that she heads for the West Coast for shows at San Francisco’s Bill Graham Civics Auditorium on 7/25 (tickets), and Los Angeles’ The Forum on 7/27 (tickets). Both CA dates are with Troye Sivan.

Maybe we could make it all right We could make it better sometime Maybe we could make it happen, baby We could keep trying But things will never change So I don't look back Still I'm dying with every step I take But I don't look back Just a little, little bit better Good enough to waste some time #robyn #barclayscenterbrooklyn #witheveryheartbeat

@robynkonichiwa was in brooklyn last night & it was magical. she sang all the anthems i held close during my early 20s—all the heavy sad clubkid stuff that spoke to me. when she started singing indestructible i was reminded of the times i danced myself numb in front of the dj booths, or blasting hang with me on speakers as i began a tenuous relationship with someone who was a close friend (that ended in very sad ways), getting myself up in late decembers to with every heartbeat. i’m not like a huge fan—but she was definitely part of my emotional soundscape for my 20s. i’m sad she didn’t sing dancehall queen because it’s probably too old, but i’m glad to be closing my 20s with having seen her live. it feels like a chapter closing. . so far away but still so near / the lights come up, the music dies. / but you don’t see me standing here, / i just came to say goodbye. / & i’m in the corner, watching you kiss her, oh / i’m giving it my all, but i’m not the guy you’re taking home, oh / i keep dancing on my own. / i keep dancing on my own.
