Roedelius & Celletti in New York City for rare concert (in support of new Transparency Records album)

Roedelius

…a very special live performance that is happening this weekend in New York City. One of the true pioneers of electronic music will be here, none other than Hans-Joachim Roedelius. As you know, Roedelius’ work in Cluster and Harmonia is legendary, these two groups being hailed by everyone from David Bowie to Brian Eno, who would later record with these Krautrock giants and continue to collaborate with Roedelius. Roedelius will be performing in a duo with the pianist Alessandra Celletti. These two incendiary musicians are doing a small tour in support of their new Transparency Records release Sustanza di Cose Sperata, and if you buy a pair of advance tickets here at [Other Music] or at the door, Transparency will give you a free copy of the CD as well.

There were two shows in California (three dates total on the “tour”)….

The reviews from the West Coast performances have been great, both of Celletti’s opening set for piano and vocal (originals as well as pieces by Glass and Satie — she is perhaps the preeminent Satie interpreter today), and of Roedelius and Celletti’s set for electronics, piano and vocals, which includes a stunning version of the Eno/Moebius/Roedelius track “By This River.” The show, at the beautiful Saint Peter’s Church, promises to be one of the highlights of the season, and we and our friends at Transparency hope you will join us in welcoming the duo to town.
