Roger Harvey

Roger Harvey releasing 'Two Coyotes' (stream "When The Lights Come Up")

Roger Harvey is ready to follow his very solid 2015 debut album Twelve Houses with Two Coyotes on October 13 via The Bouncing Souls’ Chunksaah Records (pre-order). Despite being on a punk label and often touring with punk bands, Roger Harvey’s sound is much softer than the artists he’s often surrounded by. I compared his last album to Neutral Milk Hotel and The Antlers, and the new album is introducing a country twang. The title track/first single was backed by some melancholic fiddle, and new single “When The Lights Come Up” is heavy on slide guitar, really giving that twang an added boost. (The new songs also remind me a little more of Manchester Orchestra than he ever has before.) Roger remains a great songwriter too, with a passionate delivery that’s easy to latch onto. Roger tells us:

This song, like much of the new record, is about this underlying feeling of hopelessness in our era. The feeling when we’re so fried, that nothing can excite us and/or enrage us anymore. But still that love has the ability to pull us out, if we let it.

The new single premieres in this post — listen to both tracks and view the tracklist below. That’s the album artwork above.

Roger is also touring with his Chunksaah labelmate (and former Avail frontman) Tim Barry, with stops in DC, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, and more (but no NYC at the moment). All dates are listed below.
