Roots Picnic

Roots Picnic 2018 lineup (Chappelle, Dirty Projectors, Dipset, Brandy, Rapsody, more)

The annual Roots Picnic returns to Philly’s Festival Pier on Saturday, June 2 and the lineup is truly stacked. The Roots headline with one of their jam sessions hosted by Dave Chappelle and featuring special guests. Other acts include Lil Uzi Vert, Dirty Projectors, The Diplomats, 2 Chainz, 6LACK, dvsn, Brandy, Black Thought & J. Period Live Mixtape feat. Fabolous & Jadakiss, Rapsody, Rich the Kid & Jay Critch, Goildlink, DJ Kid Capri, BadBadNotGood, Grits & Biscuits, DJ Drama presents Gangsta Grillz w/ special guests, Jojo Abot, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Bri Steves.

There’s also a Podcast Stage with Drink Champs, On One w/ Angela Rye, Questlove Supreme, Itsthereal, and The Realest Poidcast Ever, and a Lifestage Stage with a Madden + NBA 2K tournament.

Talking about the jam session, Questlove and Black Thought told Billboard, “We have done jam sessions with Dave many times over the past decade, most recently at Radio City Music Hall, but never in the festival environment.” Going by the recent Roots Jam Sessions in NYC (which also included Dave Chappelle), we can probably expect those “special guests” to in fact be very special.

Tickets for the 2018 Roots Picnic are on Citi presale now, with the public on-sale starting Friday (2/16) at noon and more presales starting Thursday (2/15).
