Royal Trux played two Market Hotel shows (night one with Acid Dad pics)
Royal Trux first reunited in 2015 and then last year they released a new album, Platinum Tips and Ice Cream. They kept the momentum going with two Brooklyn shows at Market Hotel over the weekend, a much smaller venue than the Webster Hall show they played in 2015. Psych rockers Acid Dad opened Friday’s (1/19) show and punk-blues badass Shilpa Ray opened on Saturday (1/20). We caught Friday’s show where Royal Trux were as intentionally sloppy as ever, and pictures of that one are in the gallery above. Here are some fan reviews via Twitter, followed by the night one setlist:
I’ll be damned, Royal Trux recaptured the magic again! Fantastic show, had so much fun & happy I got ticket to tomorrow night too.

Update: It was everything I’d expect from a Royal Trux show in 2018. Good, but holy shit they are strung out AF. I hope they go drink water and get some sleep tonight.

Royal Trux night 2, almost same set list but v different show, tuned & tight vs last night ramshackle chaos. “Back to School” was so beautiful I cried. pic.twitter.com/7tEpZsykWt

Royal Trux at @markethotelnyc last night brought the rock. It’s a great space with a stage that basks in the glow from the Myrtle Ave. subway platform directly across the street. Oh, and there was free beer from @TheBronxBrewery. This is all true.
