Ruby Boots releasing Bloodshot debut ‘Don’t Talk About It’ (hear the title track)

Ruby Boots

Australia’s Ruby Boots (real name Bex Chilcott) is releasing her first album for Bloodshot Records, Don’t Talk About It, on February 9 (pre-order). She recorded it in Dallas backed by The Texas Gentlemen, and it was produced by Beau Bedford and features a few songs co-written with Nikki Lane. Lead single “It’s So Cruel” is a dose of hard-edged country rock, but the title track (one of the songs written with Lane) has an airy, dreamy vibe that should appeal to fans of Mazzy Star or Cowboy Junkies. We’re premiering that one below. Here’s what Bex tells us about it:

“Don’t Talk About It” was started around Nikki Lane’s table and finished on the last day of mixing. It’s a song that broaches our ability to move on and through life just as long as we aren’t reminded by what has bitten us, but realising that if you keep turning a blind eye, instead of dealing with it, it’ll come back to bite you in the end.

Believe in Heaven
Don’t Talk About It

Break My Heart Twice
I’ll Make It Through
