Rufus Wainwright, Sufjan Stevens & more playing Christmas show at Town Hall

Noel Nights at Town Hall

The Wainwright and McGarrigle families are throwing a Christmas show in NYC this December. “Noel Nights” has previously been staged in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville, and Montreal, and after a four year hiatus it returns to NYC on December 16 at Town Hall. Siblings Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright, their father Loudon Wainwright III, and other family and friends including Emmylou Harris, Sufjan Stevens, Sloan Wainwright, Teddy Thompson, Jenni Muldaur, Joan as Police Woman, and Lucy Wainwright Roche are scheduled to perform, and “special guests” are also promised. Tickets are on sale now.

“Noel Nights” was inspired by Rufus and Martha’s mother Kate McGarrigle, who passed away in 2010 from sarcoma. Proceeds from the show will go to Stand Up to Cancer.

Rufus stops in NYC earlier in December to play Beacon Theatre on his “All These Poses” 20th Anniversary Tour (tickets).
