Australian post-punks Rule of Thirds are on a North American tour as we speak, having just hit NYC for New York’s Alright this past weekend. They’re currently in the midst of a run of dates with NYC’s Survival, which has them in Pittsburgh tonight (4/22), and that run brings them back to NYC on Saturday (4/25) at Silent Barn. Pawns and The Brass are on that bill too, and $8 at the door gets you in. All dates are listed below.

Following their 2012 demo and a 2013 7″, Rule of Thirds put out their self-titled debut full length earlier this year on Mass Media in the US and No Patience in their home country. As is the case with a lot of post-punk, the basslines are the driving force here (and Rule of Thirds have killer basslines), but singer Freya Zaknich’s piercing, distinct vocals are no small part of their appeal either. The 7″ is a little more punk/deathrock, while the LP comes a bit closer to the “sounds like Joy Division” classification, but both are great. Check them out, with a video, below.
