S U R V I V E releasing remix EP, playing Brooklyn's Green-Wood Cemetery

survive

Austin cinematic synthscape maestros S U R V I V E will release a new EP, titled RR7387, which features remixes and reinterpretations of their songs by JK Flesh (aka Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, Jesu), Lena Willikens, Not Waving, and Sam Haar (Blondes). It’s out November 3 via Relapse and you can stream the Lena Willikens remix of “Cutthroat” below.

Ahead of that, S U R V I V E will be in NYC as part of the two-day live music and performance event titled Into the Veil which is happening at Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery on October 13 & 14. Now in its third year, Into the Veil sounds a bit like Sleep No More meets a concert at a haunted house:

Into The Veil brings the promise of an extended event with even more to discover. This fall, Atlas Obscura and Green-Wood are conjuring two evenings of exploration and immersion― featuring dozens of intimate and grand performances alike. Mausoleum doors will creak open, glasses will be raised, and memories that last a lifetime will be made.

Attendees both new and returning will find their own unique experiences, weaving together stories from the 560,000 lives interred across Green-Wood’s historic 478 acres. Navigating below the silhouettes of thousands of starlit trees, let your curiosity lead you through winding pathways, revealing hidden spaces of music, history, and storytelling. Performances, readings, and other activities will unfold over the course of the night starting at 8 p.m. and continuing until the midnight hour. Where will your night lead?

In addition to S U R V I V E, there will be performances by Laraaji, Lucien Shapiro, Rob Roth, The Burns Archive, Ashley Rose Couture, The Apprehension Engine, and “more to be discovered.” Seeing them in a cemetery does seem like the ultimate S U R V I V E show. Tickets for Into the Veil are on sale now.

Meanwhile, S U R I V I V E members Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein will have lots of new score pieces in the second season of Netflix’s hit, Stranger Things, which debuts October 27. Kyle and Michael will be performing their Stranger Things score live at Los Angeles’ Ace Hotel on November 8 (tickets), which is just before S U R I V I V E’s appearance at the 2017 Sound on Sound Festival just outside their hometown.

While on the subject of Stranger Things, the show has just released a videogame app for Android and iOS, which, in keeping with the show’s ’80s theme, looks very 8-bit, Commodore 64 in style. You can watch a trailer for it below.
