Sad13 on new benefit comp w/ Hand Habits, Sammus & more, playing shows
Brooklyn label Fluorescent Thought is releasing Evergreen: A Benefit Compilation for Hour Children this Monday (7/7). All proceeds will go directly to Hour Children, whose “mission is to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women and their children successfully rejoin the community, reunify with their families, and build healthy, independent, and secure lives.”
The comp includes music by Sadie Dupuis (Speedy Ortiz, Sad13), Hand Habits, Sammus, Fraternal Twin (covering Songs: Ohia), Free Cake For Every Creature (covering Daniel Johnston), La Neve (Joey DeFrancesco of Downtown Boys), Jock Club (Andrew Flores of Destruction Unit), and more. A stream of the entire comp premieres below.
There’s a release show happening in Brooklyn at Silent Barn on release day (7/10) with La Neve, Sitcom, Groupie, and VZn. Hour Children representatives will table and speak between sets. $10 at the door gets you in.
Sadie Dupuis, whose contribution to the compilation is a demo of unreleased Speedy Ortiz song “Meat of Contact,” has Sad13 shows coming up. She was just announced for the TBA Summer Thunder show at Union Pool on Saturday, July 22. Like all Summer Thunder shows, it’s free and starts at 2 PM.
Sad13 also opens for the Barsuk-signed Charly Bliss on September 28 at Music Hall of Williamsburg (tickets). Bellows is on the bill too.
