Sam Smith streaming new album, expands tour (4 NYC shows total, including iHeartRadio Theater tonight)

UK pop singer Sam Smith is less than a week away from releasing his debut album, In The Lonely Hour (due 6/17 via Capitol), but you can now stream it in full at NPR. Its funky first single “Money On My Mind” sounded like a pretty good promise that fans of his Disclosure collaboration “Latch” would get more of that magic here, but it turns out that single was something of a red herring. Most songs on the album are actually R&B/soul ballads (including a ballad version of “Latch”) that are more Adele than Disclosure. Listen for yourself here.
Sam has also expanded his tour once again to include additional dates in LA, NYC and Portland. In NYC, he plays sold out shows at The Apollo on 6/17, Hammerstein Ballroom on 9/19, and now has added one happening September 18 at United Palace Theatre. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/13) at 10 AM.
Sam also plays a more intimate NYC show tonight (6/11) at iHeartRadio Theatre. For a chance to get in, you have to email [email protected] with the subject “Sam Smith” or enter Capitol Records’ Twitter contest. If you don’t get in, you can stream it live on iHeartRadio tonight at 9 PM.
