This was The Mallard…

Some things just aren’t meant to last. Bay Area band The Mallard had been building steam for a couple years with their dark, intense brand of psych rock, but coming off a tour to SXSW this year, but the band busted apart. But not before laying to tape their second album, Finding Meaning in Deference, which will be out July 25 on Castle Face (the label run by Thee Oh Sees’ John Dwyer).

A little creepy, with a menacing post-punk rhythmic attack, the record makes for a fitting headstone for The Mallard. You can stream the LP’s manic, paranoid closing track, “Iceberg,” below.
