Breakdown's Carl Porcaro jamming along with SAVAK

SAVAK enlist Breakdown's Carl Porcaro & others to jam along in "I Wanna Exist" video

“We thought it’d be fun to do a video that was both a tribute to and semi-spoof of the YouTube style videos of guys jamming along to songs in their room,” says SAVAK‘s Sohrab Habibion of the band’s new video for “I Wanna Exist.” For it, they got friends Kenny Appell (Goes Cube/White Widows Pact), Carl Porcaro (Kings Destroy/Killing Time/Breakdown), and writer/composer Bobby Crace to play the different “fan” parts. “t was a blast to film them and then put together.”

As for the song itself, Sohrab says, “Musically the tune reminds me a bit of Agent Orange, whose first couple of records I still listen to pretty regularly. Aside from their great melodies and dynamics, their cover of ‘Pipeline’ also introduced me to The Ventures and surf music in general.” The video premieres in this post and you can watch it below.

“I Wanna Exist” is on SAVAK’s second album, Cut-Ups, which is out October 27 via Ernest Jenning Record Co. The band are currently on tour with Pinback, and play NYC’s Irving Plaza on Saturday, October 8 (tickets). They’ll also open for Hot Snakes at The Bell House on November 16 (sold out), and play as part of the Brainiac tribute happening at The Bell House on December 9 with Girls Against Boys and more (tickets).
