Savoy Motel share Jay Reatard-inspired "Sorry People" from debut LP

Nashville’s Savoy Motel, featuring Cheap Time’s Jeffrey Novak and members of Heavy Cream, will release their debut album on October 21 via What’s Your Rupture and the group have shared a new song from it. “Sorry People” is a pretty good representation of what Savoy Motel do: it’s funky, glammy and twitchy all in equal measures with the unmistakable sound of that vintage Maestro Rhythm King drum machine ticking along. Lyrically, however the song was inspired by the late Jay Reatard. Says Novak, it’s “based on the late Jay Reatard’s skewed philosophy of never apologizing for anything, even though I remember him telling me he was sorry about countless crazy things in the past.” Listen below.
