Scarface says he tested positive for coronavirus

Geto Boys co-founder Scarface said he tested positive for coronavirus in a new interview with bandmate Willie D, as The FADER reports. In the interview, Scarface said the illness started with “an itch in my throat,” and in a matter of days he was in the emergency room with a fever. He was put on IV antibiotics and discharged, he said, but went back to the hospital “even sicker,” and was tested for COVID-19.

“It started off with pneumonia in both of my lungs,” he said, “and three or four days later my kidneys failed.” Speaking about his struggle to breathe, he described a feeling like an “elephant was sitting on my chest.”

“This whole three weeks has been an ordeal,” he continued. “It’s the craziest I’ve ever seen in my life. I’ve been to the point where I felt like I was gonna die.”

Scarface said he hadn’t traveled recently, and had quarantined himself upon beginning to show symptoms. “You need to relay and convey that message to everybody that this is not fake,” he said. “I’m not all the way out the woods yet… People out there thinking this shit is a game, it ain’t no joke.”
