Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears released solo debut (stream it), announces tour

Former Scissor Sisters main man Jake Shears released his self-titled solo debut today. If he’d released it under his old band’s name, no-one would’ve batted an eye; he’s still strutting to disco, glam, George Michael, Paul Williams and The Osmonds, but this sounds like the most fun he’s had since the first (great) Scissor Sisters album. The record features members of My Morning Jacket, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Sturgill Simpson’s brass section. You can stream the whole thing, and check out the video for single “Big Bushy Mustache” (which features a cameo from Josh Homme‘s BBM), below.

Jake has just announced a fall tour, including a stop at NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on November 2. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, August 17 at 10 AM. Other stops includes Boston, DC, Philly, Toronto, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and more. All dates are listed below.
