Scott Walker scored upcoming film 'The Childhood of a Leader' (listen to "Run")

Enigmatic crooner Scott Walker has composed a new film score for the upcoming Brady Corbet directorial debut The Childhood of a Leader, which stars Robert Pattinson, Game of Thrones‘s Liam Cunningham (aka Sir Davos), and The Artist‘s Bérénice Bejo. Created with previous collaborators Peter Walsh and Mark Warman along with a 62-person orchestra, it is Walker’s first scoring work since 1999’s Pola X. Ahead of its August 19 release on 4AD, Walker has shared the new track “Run”. Listen below.

As for the film itself, this is the directorial debut of actor Brady Corbet (Mysterious Skin, Funny Games) and has quietly picked up acclaim and several awards on the international festival circuit. Billed as “a chilling fable about the rise of fascism in the 20th Century,” it was inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre’s short story of the same name, and follows the formative years of a young boy in post-WWI France during the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

The film sees US release on July 22. Check out the trailer below, featuring some riveting musical work from Walker. You can pre-order it at 4AD’s website, and check out the tracklist below.
