Scour

Scour (Anselmo + Pig Destroyer / Cattle Decapitation members) share first song

Black metal supergroup Scour have released their first song “Dispatched”. Scour formed back in 2015,and features Phil Anselmo, John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Jesse Schobel (Strong Intention), and Chase Fraser (Animosity). As you may know, there’s a been a lot of controversy swarming around Anselmo lately, and this is the first new music he’s put out since all that started.

As for the music itself, “Dispatched” is a quick, to-the-point, brutal piece of blackened death metal that notably doesn’t really sound anything like the members’ main projects. Anselmo’s voice sounds gnarlier than usual, even by his typically gnarly standards, and he functions well in a more extreme context than we usually hear him in. Mostly it registers as “freaking heavy,” which sounds about right. You can stream it below.

The song is from Scour’s upcoming self-titled debut EP, which is out on July 15 via Anselmo’s Housecore Records. Listen:
