Sebadoh prep new LP, share "celebrate the void," touring w/ Eleanor Friedberger

Sebadoh are back with Act Surprised, their first album in over six years, which will be out May 24 via Dangerbird. Lou Barlow, who moved back to Massachusetts not too long ago, reconvened with bandmates Jason Lowenstein and Bob D’Amico to make the record in their old stomping grounds. The first single from the album is “celebrate the void” which finds them easily falling back into the Sebadoh indie rock groove. “The first line of this song: ‘I get the feeling you don’t feel me’ is pretty good. It could be a line in an Ariana Grande song, I like it,” says Lou. “I followed it from there through some general complaints about a composite character in my life, someone I could never crack. Sometimes the walls are too high. If you think about it, the resistance was always there, even in the very beginning. What to do? Pick endlessly at the seams? Replay moments in my head looking for a way to explain it all? No, stop, there is no one answer and that’s OK…Celebrate the void.” Listen below.

Lou, Jason and Bob will celebrate the void and the new album with a tour that kicks off May 22 in Pittsburgh and wraps up with two NYC-area shows: July 26 at Bowery Ballroom and July 27 at Asbury Lanes. Those shows and all their July dates are with Eleanor Friedberger. Tickets for Asbury Lanes go on sale at 10 AM and Bowery Ballroom go on sale at 1 PM.
