Seer Believer Bent

Seer Believer (mem Gleemer) releasing debut LP on Will Yip's label (stream a track)

Seer Believer is the new project of Nick Manske, who plays in Colorado emogaze band Gleemer, and he’s gearing up to release his debut album Bent on May 29 via Will Yip‘s Memory Music label (pre-order). Nick made the album with help from his Gleemer bandmates Corey Coffman (who fronts Gleemer) on engineering, mixing, and production duties and Charlie O’Neil on drums, so on paper this is basically 3/4 of Gleemer, but in execution it sounds noticeably different.

We’re premiering Bent‘s lead single “Hard,” and more so than Gleemer it reminds me of the calmer side of latter-day Pianos Become the Teeth and Title Fight, and Nick puts enough of his own spin on that kind of sound that he makes it sound fresh. (There’s also a mid-section that goes full Classic Rock Radio, and it totally works.) Nick says, “The song is basically about longing and separation. The thoughts that race through your head when you’re driving and you’re far away. The things you see that are beautiful to you that you wish you could share with someone but can’t.” Listen below.
