Seoul celebrating their debut LP in NYC this week with two shows (including free one at Rooftop Films), announce fall tour

Seoul band Montreal

Montreal trio Seoul released their debut album, I Become a Shade, last week. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s lush synthpop that’s sort of a modern update of the chilled-out, sophisti-pop sounds of ’80s acts like The Dream Academy, China Crisis or Blue Nile. You can stream the whole album, plus the little cloud remix of single “The Line,” below.

The band will be in NYC this week for a couple of record release shows, playing Elvis Guesthouse on Wednesday (6/24) with Heathers and Very Fresh (tickets) and a free show as part of Rooftop Films at Solar One on Thursday (6/25), where they’ll play before a screening of Noah Baumbach’s Frances Ha. That Rooftop Films show starts at 8:30 PM.

Seoul have also just announced a fall tour that will bring them to NYC again on October 10 at Rough Trade. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/26) at noon. All tour dates are listed below…
