Set and Setting releasing 'Tabula Rasa' (stream "Wandering Tribulation")

Florida heavy post-rockers Set and Setting are following 2017’s Reflectionless with a new album, Tabula Rasa, on October 12 via Pelagic, their first for the label (pre-order). Like previous albums, it was recorded and mixed by Ryan Taft (who also works with Torche).

Set and Setting recently released lead single “Ecdysis” and we’re now premiering the second single, “Wandering Tribulation.” They’re still working in the same general post-rock realm as usual on this album, but the metallic influences are a lot stronger, as you can hear on both songs. Decibel compared the first single to Gojira, and you can hear some towering Isis-style riffs on the new song, as well as searing, classic rock guitar solos that the band says were influenced by Pink Floyd. “This is the second movement of a long song but felt it stood alone as its own track. Starts and ends with a Gilmour worship guitar solo, which we’ve never really done before and shows a quieter side of the album,” guitarist Shane Handal tells us. Listen below.
