The relentlessness of New York City’s expensification, corporatization, yuppification, Eurotrashification, mindless Condo-nality and Trustafarianism makes it difficult for any person or persons to set-up a weekly or monthly comedy show that can survive longer than a calendar year. Somehow, though, the great Seth Herzog has been a been able to keep his wonderful comedy/variety/insanity showcase Sweet alive and well for a whopping 11 years with little need for antibiotics or mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Currently back home on Tuesdays at the Slipper Room after a bit of a stay at Ella, the longevity of his show defies logic, economics, and New York City’s heartless appetite to consume anything wonderful before we get too used to it. And that is just wonderful; in this day and age, in this dumb city, it sure is nice to have something we can count on.

To celebrate Sweet’s massive 11-year anniversary, Herzog is taking his show from the Slipper Room to the confines of the intimate Studio at Webster Hall on Monday September 14 for a showcase that is sure to rip. The line-up so far includes the legendary David Cross, Hasan Minhaj (“Daily Show” correspondent, host of MTV’s “Failosophy”), and more to be announced as the date gets closer. And it wouldn’t be Sweet without an appearance from Seth’s mom. Tickets are currently onsale so grab a couple and join me for what is going to be the show of the century.
