Sex Stains (ex-Bratmobile) releasing debut LP on Don Giovanni, add tour dates

Last week, we posted four songs by Sex Stains, the new band of Bratmobile singer Allison Wolfe. Those songs have all been taken off Soundcloud unfortunately, but it’s been revealed that Sex Stains signed to Don Giovanni and will release their self-titled debut album on September 2 via that label. The lead single, “Don’t Hate Me ‘Cuz I’m Beautiful,” has hints of the OG riot grrrl that Allison helped pioneer, but also of upbeat, fidgety post-punk. The song’s over and done with in a minute flat, and if you like punk of any kind, you should really check this out. Stream it below.

As mentioned last time, Allison’s joined by Mecca Vazie Andrews (who has worked with Daft Punk, Toro y Moi, Marina Abramović and more), David Orlando (who has drummed for Warpaint), Sharif Dumani (who’s played with Cody Chesnutt), and Pachy Garcia in Sex Stains.

As also discussed, the band have some shows with their labelmates Downtown Boys, including NYC on September 16 at the Studio at Webster Hall (tickets), and their label’s New Alternative Music Fest in Asbury Park the next day.

Sooner than that, Sex Stains will play another NYC show on September 13 at Silent Barn. No word on other bands or ticket info yet, but stay tuned. All dates are listed below.
