Shamir, Waxahatchee and Mutual Benefit playing Housing Works benefit in Industry City

Waxahatchee @ Webster Hall, 2015 (more by PSquared)

Shamir, Waxahatchee and Mutual Benefit are playing a Housing Works benefit on Friday, October 7 at Industry City in Brooklyn. There will also be readings by Speedy Ortiz’s Sadie Dupuis, as well as Dorothea Lasky, Mychal Denzel Smith, and Doreen St. Felix. Tickets are on sale now and proceeds fund Housing Works’ wraparound services and supportive programs for New Yorkers living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

This event, which is called “The Friday Party” is part of a larger four-day event called “Design on a Dime” which runs October 6-9 at Factory Floor and will “celebrate Brooklyn design, art, and culture with 20 top interior designers.” So pick up some cool stuff for your home and help a good cause. More details are here.

In other news, Waxahatchee’s Katie and Alison Crutchfield’s old band P.S. Elliot played Market Hotel last night.
